It's Just Not Cricket
Well actually it is. The season has finally started for village cricket after lockdown, under typical summer skies and with a bit of drizzle in the air. Looks like a two jumper day in the outfield. I played here just once despite it being a big six or so from mum and dad's house. As I recall, the score advanced by eight with me at the wicket. I probably came in at 10 or 11 as befits my talent for the game. I never saw the first ball, nor did the keeper as it went for four byes. He was fast for an 11 year old. Next ball I'm sure I hit for a four back over his head and third ball I was out. The rest of the match I spent in the outfield admiring the view, wondering why I had to walk back to school when home was on the way.
