Chesterfield Canal Part III

This bit of canal at Staveley has been re-engineered with a new lock to lower the level to account for mining subsidence to the railway line which passes over. Work is currently stalled due to the HS2 high speed rail link, which is to have a maintenance depot just to the west of here.

 The last few days has been a bit hectic, but here we are back in Havelock North and back to my usual exercise regime of cycle 3.4 kilometres from home to the car park, then walk various trails. here looking out towards Mount Erin with Mount Kahuranaki just visible over the ridge to the left.
